Job Description
Norwood School, an independent, coeducational, elementary day school, is seeking an outstanding educator to lead its Lower School Division (K-4). The School is situated on a beautiful 40 acre wooded campus, just outside the Capital Beltway. There are currently 521 students enrolled in grades K-8 (280 in the Lower School). In the words of the School’s Founder, Norwood is a “happy place of learning for children…filled with art and music, where each child feels supported and valued.” The School’s rigorous liberal arts curriculum is balanced by an emphasis on the fine arts and enriched by exceptional programs in science, world languages, educational technology, community service, physical education, and athletics. The School is committed to being a diverse and inclusive school community.

Candidates should have extensive experience in lower school education, be dedicated to children and their growth, and responsive to parents and their concerns. The Lower School Principal oversees the daily operation of the lower grades, supervises all lower grades faculty, the progress of all lower school students, and participates in lower grades admission. Other responsibilities include greeting all lower grades students each morning, conducting a daily chapel service designed to attend to the spiritual and ethical development of all our students, and serving ex officio on faculty and board committees.
