Job Description
The Accelerated English Language Program at New Hampton School is a six-week, academically rigorous English language program for 13- to 18-year-old international students striving to improve English fluency and learn American culture.

The AELP provides students with full living accommodations, daily English classes, study hall, cultural activities, speaker events, and guided tours that will promote English language development and prepare students for American classes.

Full-time imaginative English teachers are sought for the Accelerated English Language Program to be a part of this new initiative from June 26, 2010 through August 18, 2010. Each innovative instructor has the important task of helping students enjoy their first taste of American life.

Teachers will be required to spend the day in the tradition of the American boarding school; using their multi-faceted personalities to teach students during a host of activities both in and out of the classroom context. Teachers will have the opportunity to travel throughout New England visiting neighboring boarding schools and colleges, historical sites, interesting restaurants, and local cultural events as well as enjoying picnics, hikes, lake swims, and camping.

While on campus, teachers are required to host nightly study hall and be present in case of emergency situations.

Additional Salary Information: Compensation: • Meals- 3/day for the entirety of contract • Accommodations- Single Dorm Room in one of the New Hampton School houses • Cable TV in common area of each dorm • Access to the Moore Athletic Facility • Wireless Internet • Optional travel on tours throughout New England • Stipend


Requirements
Minimum Requirements: •Degree or certificate in ESL or 3 years teaching experience • Comfortable working with teenagers

Preferred: •Skilled in spontaneous, creative ways of conveying American English to teens who will need to understand the contexts of when and how to use it • Work experience with English-language learners or students from non-American cultures is highly desirable •Knowing how to make learning fun for teens wanting to excel •International travel and community service experience
