Job Description
We are seeking an energetic and collaborative leader to join our dynamic school, primarily to oversee operations, mentor our talented group of educators, and lead by example. The ability to manage the current economic challenges, including sustaining and increasing enrollment and continuing our quality programs, is an additional priority. Visibility in our school community and the greater South Maui community is also important. We currently have 2 charming campuses, one for preschool and Lower Elementary, and another for Upper Elementary and Middle School. Our long-term plans include a capital campaign to move to one permanent campus. Montessori Hale O Keiki is the only private school in the coastal town of Kihei, in South Maui. Kihei is bordered by the affluent areas of Wailea and Makena. The school was founded in 1990 and currently educates 100 students from pre-school to middle school. Montessori Hale O Keiki has garnered 3 accreditations, from HAIS, AMS, and WASC. We received a National Award in 2007 - the NAIS Leading Edge Award/Demographic Sustainability for Diversity. We were thrilled to receive this national acknowledgement of our Open Admission/ Full Inclusion Program, as it recognized a key principle of our school since it’s inception - accommodating all children regardless of special needs. We were also just awarded a “Schools of the Future” grant, which is adding a new marine biology and stewardship program throughout all curriculums.

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Leadership – Possess the communication and people skills to collaborate between board, staff, parents, students, and community Advocate for the school within the greater community, acting as primary spokesperson for the school and supporting fundraising events, board development, and enrollment expansion Model high moral and ethical conduct Visualize and execute long term strategic plans for the school Stay current in trends in independent school community regarding education, operations, and leadership -Operations- Create appropriate, strong leadership team for the school, delegating and developing others (adept in Team Management) Oversee curriculum, admissions, collections, expenses, and extracurricular programs Oversee Public Relations/ Marketing/ Development Oversee Campus/ Property Management -Fiscal Responsibility- Assist with creating and managing within the annual budget of the school Actively supports all fundraising efforts -Board of Directors- Implement the strategies and objectives as determined with the board Report at monthly board meetings Keep board fully informed so that it can meet its responsibility to the school
