Job Description
Executive Director Alumni Relations & Development: Reporting directly to the Director of the Laboratory Schools, serve as the chief development officer for the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. Overseeing a staff of six, the Executive Director is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising plan that encompasses annual and capital campaign components. Bear significant responsibility for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of individual major gifts prospects. Provide leadership and direct supervision to the Development Office team. Identify, engage, and solicit parent and alumni. Contributed revenue goals for FY 2010 are $1.2 million operating support and $3.8 million in pledges for endowment and capital projects.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred; minimum eight years of relevant experience at a management level position in development and fundraising activities with a not-for-profit organization required; at least five years of proven staff and department management experience preferred; minimum five years of budget experience preferred; demonstrated success in capital and annual campaign development, soliciting and securing major gifts from both private and public sources, institutional planning required; fundraising experience in an independent school environment preferred; significant experience working with Board of Trustees preferred; PC/MAC skills required; strong interpersonal skills with an outgoing personality required; solid planning and organizational skills required; ability to work under pressure and effectively manage sensitive development issues required; ability to make strong presentations, both verbally and written required; strong interest in and appreciation for independent school education preferred.
