The Director of Technology is responsible for oversight of all administrative and educational technologies and the personnel who support these technologies.

The Director’s duties include creation and implementation of a Technology Master Plan; development and oversight of the school’s technology curriculum; coordination of efforts to facilitate the use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning; management of systems to offer technology support for students, faculty, staff, and families; oversight of technology budgeting and purchasing; maintenance and periodic upgrading of all administrative and educational hardware and infrastructure; oversight of the school’s website. Reporting to the Head of School and serving as a member of the School’s Senior Staff, the Director of Technology supervises the Technology Department staff, including an Academic Technology Specialist, Website Administrator, Network Administrator, and divisional support staff.

An immediate task for this person will be to help in shaping an academic technology program that includes technology integration across and within the curriculum, training of teachers and staff in use of technology, structuring of computer curriculum K-12, and working collaboratively and flexibly with principals and department heads to develop goals with respect to technology integration. The Director of Technology provides technical assistance and maintains the school-wide network and all systems related to this infrastructure: core Microsoft networking components including, but not limited to, Domain Controllers, DHCP, DNS; all network infrastructure hardware and Internet systems; all file, email, and application servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Server 2003/2008, Blackbaud, Senior Systems; all user and shared workstations, both Mac and PC; all hardware and software licensing; interactive whiteboards and multimedia setups.

In addition he or she administers and oversees the school-wide telecommunications, including campus-wide PBX telephone/PA system, cabling, and phones; a fleet of Blackberrys and Blackberry Enterprise Server; emergency communication walkie-talkies; supervision of both the schools’ public and private websites. The annual budget to maintain all aspects of technology is approximately $500,000.
