Job Description
William Penn Charter School seeks a teacher of Mandarin to begin in September 2009. The successful candidate will have: fluency in standard Mandarin Chinese, both written and spoken, including simplified characters and the pinyin system; a strong command of English for teaching and comment writing; at least 3 years of teaching experience in the United States with adolescents; the ability to teach a variety of levels; a familiarity with the available textbooks, audio visual materials and related computer technology for effective teaching; eligibility to teach in the US (must be a US citizen or already have working papers.) Familiarity with Quaker education and/or the Religious Society of Friends, experience with trips/exchanges to China, and familiarity with traditional characters all are plusses.
