Green Acres School seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) Learning Coordinator for Grades 1- 3 for the 2017-2018 school year. The Learning Coordinator provides direct support and instruction in both reading and math for students in grades 1- 3, using a collaborative team teaching approach and small group sessions. The Lower School Learning Coordinator will work closely with Lower School staff, including the classroom teachers, Division Head, Counselor, and other Learning Coordinators.
A thorough knowledge of child development
Knowledge and experience with administering and interpreting formal and informal reading and math assessments to determine instructional level and to effectively implement direct literacy and math support instruction
Experience in reading and interpreting neuropsychological and psycho-educational evaluations
Demonstrated success in teaching reading and math to elementary-aged students
Expertise in research-based methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Phono-Graphix, and Wilson methodologies in reading
Facility with technology integration
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree related to elementary education
Master’s degree preferred
Certification as a reading and or math specialist strongly preferred
