Verde Valley School seeks a skilled and enthusiastic language teacher with the ability to teach French full-time at the advanced levels (high school years 1 and 3) in a rigorous academic setting. IB French ab initio, SL and HL classes include in-depth instruction, in French. These courses progress each year developing greater grammar, vocabulary and fluency through immersion in culture and literature with a heavy emphasis on independent thinking and comparative analysis. Teachers at Verde Valley School use an innovative approach to teaching language--including experiential, student-centered methods; the use of technology and many modalities such as music, food, dance, media, etc. Full-time residential faculty supervise students one evening per week and one weekend per month., as well as leading one extracurricular sport/activity twice each week. Campus housing and meals at the dining hall are provided for full-time residential faculty. Non-residential faculty live within 10 miles of the school's campus and commute to campus for classes, extra help, faculty meetings and any other academic obligations.
Preference is given to candidates who have:
IB program experience and training
Are native speakers of French
Experience using higher-order thinking activities daily
Previously worked in a residential setting
The potential to fill 0.25 position in another area of need
The ability to coach sports or activities offered at VVS
Experience leading multi-day, outdoor trips

A Masters degree and prior experience teaching high school is preferred, but not essential.
