Position Title: Director of Alumni Relations
FTE: 1.0 (Exempt)
Reports to: Director of Advancement & Strategic Initiatives
Catlin Gabel seeks a dynamic and driven individual for the position of Director of Alumni Relations. This position is an integral part of the Advancement Team and reports to the Director of Advancement & Strategic Initiatives. The Director of Alumni Relations will focus on engaging Catlin Gabel’s 5,000 alumni across several regional chapters through differentiated programming and communications. The Director will find creative ways to celebrate the school’s historical roots and traditions, while authentically connecting with Catlin Gabel’s youngest alumni. Overall the Director’s purpose is to establish and deepen the school’s relationships with alumni to support the endeavors of future generations.
Programming & Events
Responsible for developing, refining, and executing on a strategic plan for all alumni programming and engagement
Plan, schedule, and manage Alumni events including: Alumni Weekend; Homecoming (alumni aspects); Alumni Holiday Party; regional engagement events in California, New York, and the Pacific Northwest, often with the Head of School; and senior class programming
Collaborate with and receive direct program support from the Marketing & Events Coordinator as needed on projects and events
Provide partnership to the Development team by recruiting alumni to key fundraising events, and hosting them to ensure a great experience
Manage process to identify nominations for Alumni & Service Awards, and conduct Board voting process in partnership with the Board president
Manage the Alumni Program budget to be balanced and well-prioritized
Collaborate with the Communications team to develop a comprehensive strategy that is differentiated by critical stages in alumni lives, their unique connection to the school (including Catlin Gabel predecessor schools), and their current interests
Provide the development team perspective on effective alumni messaging for appeals
Coordinate the collection of Class Notes for the school’s magazine, and assist the magazine’s editor in identifying compelling alumni stories to tell
Design a plan for alumni research to keep current the School’s alumni database
Assess the best platform, and create a roll-out plan, for a new alumni digital directory
Maintain communications with alumni by being accessible to local alumni, writing and producing the e-newsletter, preparing Class Notes for the Caller magazine, and managing individual alumni correspondence
Work in close partnership with the Alumni Board President to develop the goals of the Board, and engage its members in service to the school and all alumni
Provide necessary board orientation and stewardship to Alumni Board members, and work with Board officers to develop a pipeline of qualified potential nominees

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Required BA or BS from an accredited college or university
A minimum of 3 years of direct work experience in advancement-related role with demonstrated responsibilities managing projects and volunteers
Experience working in an educational setting preferred
Experience in planning, managing projects, and working independently, with a demonstrated increase in responsibilities over time
