University Liggett School seeks an Upper School science teacher specializing in Chemistry for the 2017-18 school year. The position is currently slated to teach yearlong courses including Chemistry and Honors Chemistry (10th grade), and semester courses including History of Chemistry (11th/12th grade), Thermodynamics and Kinetics (11th/12th grade), and Equilibrium and Electrochemistry (11th/12th grade).
The ideal candidate will possess:
A minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in the subject
A bachelor's degree in the chemical sciences and/or in teaching with an advanced degree strongly preferred
a strong understanding of the developmental needs of high school students
facility with technology in the classroom
an innovative approach to teaching, learning, and assessment
a desire to engage fully with the Liggett community
experience in conducting professional or academic research in chemical fields
a collaborative, inclusive approach to all aspects of school life
Along with core teaching in the science department and serving as an advisor to a group of Upper School students, the candidate will be asked to take on extra duties that may include coaching or leading an extracurricular activity.
