The Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School (www.bernardzell.org) seeks an outstanding candidate for the position of Human Resources Manager, effective July 1, 2017.

The role of the Human Resources Manager is integral to the support of school faculty, administration and staff. Primary responsibilities include benefits enrollment and support, payroll, regulatory compliance and reporting, support for the recruiting and hiring process, and direct support to individual employees. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Typical Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a related field and have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a non-profit setting. The candidate must have experience in a similar role. A working knowledge of HR processes and regulations is essential, including experience with FMLA, PTO accrual, Worker’s Compensation and 403b programs. Independent school experience is a plus.
Successfully coordinate benefit programs (health, dental, vision, 403(b), AFLAC, LTD, Life/AD&D, COBRA, etc.) for employees, including all employee communication, problem solving and claims resolution
Ensure all plans comply with applicable laws and statutes (HIPPA, ERISA, IRS, etc.)
Prepare/edit Summary Plan Descriptions as needed for plan changes and legal compliance
Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process
Develop/edit/update job descriptions for all employees, using a consistent format
Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes/laws such as FMLA, ADA, Sexual Harassment, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, ERISA, etc.
Support the recruiting lifecycle, include coordinating position advertisements, providing support for the hiring administrator as requested, and preparing new hire information packets; support the new hire orientation process
Manage Worker’s Compensation program (file claims, follow-up, etc.)
Maintain personnel records in electronic HR management program, including attendance, vacation days, evaluations, educational documents, etc.
Support the bi-monthly payroll process (through 3rd party vendor)
Create a strong customer service dynamic throughout all operations
Support other projects, initiatives or processes as necessary.

Work is generally performed on site, Bernard Zell does not offer a telecommuting option. The general work day is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Full-time employee benefits include employer-subsidized medical, dental, life and disability (short and long-term) insurances, 403b retirement plan, parking or public transportation, daily (kosher) breakfast and lunch, as well as optional insurances. Required Qualifications & Skills:
BA degree; Human Resources or related field preferred
A minimum of 2-3 years experience in the human resources field
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to accurately interpret procedures and regulations along with the ability to support appropriate implementation
Technology savvy with demonstrated skill in using Excel, Word, email, HR Management software, and software required for benefits administration
Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently in a service-oriented manner
Independent school experience preferred
