The Atlanta Speech School is currently seeking applicants for a full-time lead licensed psychologist. The candidate for this position will be expected to provide psychoeducational evaluations, in conjunction with a language and learning specialist, in the Learning Evaluation Clinic. The psychologist will also provide clinical support and leadership in the Learning Evaluation Clinic. The Learning Evaluation Clinic provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation services to individual enrolled in the Atlanta Speech School’s school programs as well as from the community.

The lead licensed psychologist supervises a small team of licensed psychologist and speech-language pathologists, providing clinical and administrative support. In this role, the lead psychologist will collaborate with directors in our other programs to ensure high quality services. The opportunity to consult with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to planning consultative services are additional aspects of the position. In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, the lead psychologist also supports programmatic needs and decision making related to the Learning Evaluation Clinic. Responsibilities include completing comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to students in their last year of preschool through their college years within a multidisciplinary team. In-depth analysis and interpretation of assessment results in the areas of intellectual functioning, oral language, memory and learning, auditory and visual processing, executive functioning, academic achievement, and social/emotional functioning will be expected. The individual will be required to write timely, in-depth reports and provide feedback to parents and school personnel. This individual will be responsible for providing consultative and/or direct services to preschool programs at the Atlanta Speech School.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE JOB
Serve as primary contact for potential clients with questions specific to the clinic
Support team in the clinic through case consultation, report review, weekly staff meetings, and annual job performance evaluation
Assess ongoing program evaluation and monitor service delivery consistent with the goals of the clinic and school
Interview prospective staff members and assist the Director of Clinical Services with hiring recommendations
Select, administer, and interpret standardized assessment measures in the areas of intellectual functioning, memory, visual processing, executive functioning, academic achievement, and social/emotional functioning
Complete in-depth reports with appropriate diagnoses and specific recommendations for intervention for weaknesses identified during evaluation
Provide concise feedback to parents and school personnel related to assessment results and recommendations
Consult with school program personnel to develop plans that support student progress, address classroom behaviors or academic concerns, or improve student productivity
Consult with classroom teachers, parents, and outside professionals regarding strategy development, behavioral plans, or social-emotional concerns
Attend parent-teacher conferences, as needed, to discuss behavioral or emotional concerns as they relate to academic performance
Provide weekly classroom lessons using a classroom-based social skills and problem solving program
Contribute to the development and implementation of parent education, child therapy, and staff development programs
Supervise school psychologist and post-doctoral fellowship candidates completing clinical assessments
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology; training in assessment is required
Two or more years of work experience as a Ph.D. level Clinical Psychologist is required
License to practice psychology in state of Georgia or eligible for license within three months of employment
At least two years’ experience in providing psychoeducational assessments to children is required. Experience with children with language and/or learning disabilities is required and knowledge of assessment of children with hearing loss is preferred
Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to meet established deadlines
Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
Experience in providing teacher consultation, individual or group child therapy, and staff development courses for school personnel
Commitment to professional development
Knowledge of and willingness to implement statutes, practice standards, and ethical guidelines related to professional psychology
This job requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide an appropriate speech and language model for children with hearing loss who are learning spoken English.
