Deerfield Academy is seeking a full time Director of Advancement Research to join a dynamic fundraising team. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Gifts, the successful candidate chosen to fill this full time position will enjoy a rich total compensation package and generous leave program.
Responsibilities include: Prepare in-depth prospect profiles providing biographical and financial data, and provide other research support; analyze available financial data to estimate net worth and determine the appropriate capacity rating; research and create profiles on leadership giving prospects utilizing online data sources, wealth screening software, and internal database; conduct research and provide biographical materials in support of senior staff trips to Asia, coordinating efforts with the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Advancement; manage and participate in the creation of biographical materials for Academy events; manage the establishment and maintenance of news alerts for the leadership prospect pool; participate in prospect review meetings, providing relevant material in support of prospect cultivation; identify new leadership giving prospects through the use of wealth screening software, Advizor Analyst, and other screening techniques; review admissions interview schedules for candidates of interest to Advancement and provide written information to the Dean of Advancement; manage the screening of all incoming parents to identify new leadership prospects; work with the Director of Leadership Giving to assign new prospects to the most appropriate gift officer; support the work of the Nominating & Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees including preparing profiles of potential trustee candidates and drafting Committee meeting materials.
Qualifications include: a Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years professional experience performing in-depth electronic and database research, discretion with highly confidential information, excellent organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy in word, excel, database management systems, previous use of database systems such as Lexis-Nexis and Hoover’s, critical thinking, attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to work independently.
