Program development: conceptualize and implement an outstanding college counseling program that offers students, parents and agents with a tiered package of services designed to support the successful admission to selective U.S. colleges and universities.
Provide direct counseling to students at various stages of the college admissions process; meet with students via Skype and provide strategies, advice, and support that educates and empowers students on the college process, admissions trends, and individual college options; develop individualized plans for each student from pre-admissions prep to successful enrollment at an undergraduate institution.
Education and training: educate external stakeholders such as international representatives, natural parents, and schools on graduation and college entrance requirements and create stand-alone materials and online modules to provide support and guidance for them throughout the college admissions process.
Possess a strong understanding of the international and U.S. education systems and the ability to interpret international transcripts.
Coordinate logistics and execution of college preparation process for every CIEE high school USA student as they relate to:
College application support
Interview coaching and support
College campus tours
Exploration of scholarships and financial aid
Track achievement among CIEE high school USA students successfully enrolled in colleges and universities and ensure our high school programs and college counseling products adequately provide academic achievement, admissions support, and college readiness
Proactively research and implement program and procedural best practices to align with college counseling, test prep, and admissions industry standards.
Aggressively expand personal/professional network and CIEE name recognition within college counseling industry through event/conference attendance and sponsorship, college tours, speaking engagements, and travel.
Foster a close working relationship between internal High School teams and other departments (Insurance, Support, IT, etc.) to ensure success and growth of the high school USA programs.
Collaborate across departments
Travel domestically and internationally to present to students/parents and agency partners on the U.S. education system and college process.
Complete other duties as required by Academic Exchanges division leadership
Please note that this position will require work outside of normal 8:30AM to 5PM Monday to Friday business hours. Further, this position will require routine domestic and international travel.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
Degree in counseling or related field, preferred
Minimum 3 years experience in college counseling, required
Experience in teaching, education, college admissions, and/or related field preferred
In-depth knowledge on private and public universities across U.S.
Experience working with international students a plus.
Established personal/professional network of college/university admissions contacts
Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills – must be able to exude empathy and control over phone, in email and in person
Capable of managing multiple complex tasks with competing priorities
Self-reflective individual who solicits performance feedback and constructive criticism
Flexible and adaptive, open to new ideas and adjusting plans to meet changing business needs
Capable of working and meeting/exceeding goals and deadlines with high level of autonomy
Domestic travel required with some opportunity for international travel
Experience working with enrollment/admissions/sales management systems preferred
Experience working with Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat required
High level of comfort learning and mastering new databases and technology required
