The director of facilities reports directly to the business officer and is responsible for the oversight of the physical plant, building maintenance, campus grounds, energy management, campus security, and the fine arts center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The director of facilities will:
Oversee the physical operation of the entire school and its programs.
Manage the careful maintenance of buildings and grounds and cleaning programs that keep the school’s appearance in exemplary condition.
Ensure facility readiness for day-to-day events as well as special events.
Maintain public safety on campus and assist in the review and execution of the school’s crisis management plan.
Devise and manage an annual departmental budget.
Supervise staff members within the facilities department: buildings and grounds crew and security.
Arrange bids and develop specifications for all outside contractual work.
Oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions.
Develop and implement and ongoing equipment replacement program.
Establish policies and protocol that meet all required environmental, health, and maintenance standards as required by law and work with the administration to ensure compliance with all regional, state, and federal regulations and laws as they impact the school.
Serve on the administrative team supporting the board of trustees.
Manage the Fine Arts Center to include:
1) ensuring facility readiness for day to day events, etc.
2) overseeing the work of all outside contractors....
3) developing and implementing an ongoing equipment replacement program.

5) assuming responsibility for maintenance issues to do with the center and make sure that the
air con, lighting (not including stage lights, etc), electrical / water and cleaning details are
Assume responsibility for other projects/duties as assigned by the head of school.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline
5 - 10 years of experience in a supervisory/management role in construction, maintenance/repair; working knowledge of at least three trades is required (maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, construction)
Prior experience in an educational or similar institution
Demonstrated success in managing a large facility
Strong supervisory, organizational, technical, and analytical skills
Proven success developing and balancing an annual budget
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Problem solver with a high degree of diplomacy
Experience with blueprints and building specifications
