The Office of Admission at Westover School conveys the Westover message both internally and externally, to successfully enroll, educate, and unify a diverse community of young women who will graduate and become agents of change in the world. Under the supervision of the Director of Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid works and collaborates with the full Admission team to achieve our goals.
The Director of Financial Aid oversees and manages the School’s financial aid program, managing aid in excess of $3,700,000. A thorough understanding of and experience with need-based financial aid is required. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills; strong interpersonal, communication and technological skills; and a demonstrated commitment to working with prospective and returning families.
In addition, this position will include some Admissions Office responsibilities such as recruiting, interviewing and evaluating prospective students, traveling to represent Westover at school fairs and functions, and participating on the Admissions Committee. This full-time faculty position may also include student advising, evening and weekend duties, and other responsibilities as needed.
Essential Duties; Director of Financial Aid & Admission Processes
In partnership with the DEM, Head of School, and the CFO, develop and execute financial aid strategies to yield top ranked admitted students
Manage $3.7M financial aid budget for Westover School
Manage SSS for all financial aid applicants to Westover School
Attend professional conferences on financial aid, as needed and appropriate
Work with the Director of Enrollment Management to develop and execute strategy as it relates to recruitment, enrollment management strategies, retention/attrition, etc
With the DEM, recruit internationally & domestically; cultivate and manage assigned markets. Interview prospective families and students
Develop relationships with referring professionals globally to achieve annual enrollment goals
Assist in coordinating and manage inquiry-to-enrollment process for Chinese families and students, Vericant, and Chinese consultants
Manage assigned office contacts for day, boarding, and international prospective families and students
Attend and represent Westover School at assigned school fairs, events, conferences, etc. Travel as necessary, both international and domestic; coordinate travel with other Westover offices and boarding schools, as needed
Be a SEVIS DSO and assist in managing I-20 processing and distribution for all new international students
Work with Rasin Center for Global Justice regarding international enrollment/admission process
Manage New Girl/Old Girl Program
Enter interview, contacts, and communication with prospective families, consultants, feeder schools, etc into database in timely manner
Attend professional development conferences on admission/enrollment management, as needed and appropriate
Participate/sit on various internal committees as assigned by DEM
Prepare financial statements, commentary and forecasting for the leadership team as needed.
Extract, analyze, and maintain admission data for analytics as related to the funnel, strategy development, enrollment management, and retention. Work with DEM, Head of School, and CFO on reporting for Board of Trustees and other internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
Financial skill set specific to the review, assessment, and management of FA budget related to parent financial statements
Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills
Database management; knowledge of systems such as Finalsite, Blackbaud, Whipplehill, etc
Proficient using Microsoft Suite
Social media savvy
Event planning management
Ability to multi-task, be socially flexible, manage a fast paced front-end office
This job involves extended periods of sitting, data entry and computer use, as well as frequent lifting and use of stairs. Extensive walking and standing is required for tours, visits, and events.
