The Independent Day School in Middlefield, CT is seeking an experienced English/Language Arts teacher for the Middle School (grades 6, 7, and 8). The teacher will teach three sections of Middle School English/Language Arts, emphasizing reading, writing, and literature, and semester-long middle school theatre courses in public speaking, creative dramatics, puppetry, and scene study.
The successful candidate will challenge and inspire students to be fearless learners, and will be part of a close-knit teaching and learning community. A high degree of teamwork, collaboration, and communication are a must; a sense of humor is appreciated. IDS values highly initiative, creativity, and flexibility.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field
A minimum of 3 years of successful English/Language Arts teaching experience, preferably in Middle School.
Independent school experience preferred
Thorough knowledge of English/Language Arts pedagogy
Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills
Proficiency with classroom technology
Ability to work as a team member
