The Montessori School of Denver (MSD) is currently conducting a national search for its next Head of School, seeking a leader who can bring high energy, innovative thinking and a passion for learning and teaching. As its mission states, MSD is a dynamic educational environment empowering students to use diverse knowledge and experiences to reach their full potential and do good in the world.
MSD is accredited by both the American Montessori Society and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools, and is recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools for academic excellence. MSDs six-acre campus is located in southeast Denver and serves children in Toddler through Eighth grade.
MSDs educational program is grounded in Montessori philosophy and best educational practices.Across every program level, classrooms include a carefully prepared environment specifically designed to meet students developmental needs and capitalize on students natural curiosity and love of learning. Service learning and doing good in the world are integrated into the fabric of the MSD experience. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, the school places a significant emphasis on the social-emotional development of each student.
The last decade has been a period of growth for MSD with the addition of the Toddler program in 2007 and a Middle School Program in 2012. In addition, MSD recently completed a comprehensive multi-million dollar campus expansion that included a new Arts and Athletic Center, enhanced outdoor learning and play environments, a new Toddler Village, updated Middle School space, Urban Farm, and a state-of-the-art Science and Innovation Tower which together provide an exceptional experiential educational environment for all students. Today, the community is comprised of approximately 334 students, 72 Faculty and Staff, and over 240 families.
Recognized as a thought leader in both Montessori and independent school circles, MSD has been building on the forward-thinking ideas of Dr. Maria Montessori, adding innovation, technology, increased global readiness and a curriculum that makes sure its graduates are prepared for rigorous academics and leadership in high school and beyond. The next Head of School will have a unique opportunity to build on MSDs rich history and strong forward momentum.
A qualified candidate will bring a proven record of school leadership including experience overseeing Montessori curriculum, successful fiscal planning and budget management, and recognition as a progressive and knowledgeable thought leader in education and teaching practices.

In celebration of its 50th birthday, MSD completed a comprehensive multi-million dollar expansion plan to complement its existing facilities. Currently, the School serves over 330 students, Toddler through Middle School, with an expected increase in enrollment to 350 students over the next several years.
