Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, and Independent Co-Educational Primary School located in Washington, DC., seeks a caring and compassionate applicant for a full-time position in the Early Learning Center at Beauvoir starting in the fall of 2017. The Early Learning Center at Beauvoir is committed to teaching the youngest learners from age 3 months to 3 years old to be kind, honest, responsible, and respectful.

As such, an Early Learning Center Teacher at Beauvoir will demonstrate the ability to care for and teach students ranging in age from 3 months to 3 years old in a developmentally appropriate manner.
Essential Duties of an Early Learning Center Teacher at Beauvoir
Being flexible and handling multiple situations effectively
Spending time both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather
Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities in a play based environment
Arriving prior to the school day to prepare the classroom for an engaging day
An Early Learning Center at Beauvoir teacher will work collaboratively with their co-teacher as well as with the entire team. Teachers are provided a monthly curriculum broken down into weekly themes, however teachers collaborate and create their own lessons and activities. Ultimately, all teachers support the School’s mission to foster a spirit of inquiry and a joy in learning in all students. Salary is competitive.
The School accepts candidates for this teaching position with the following minimal qualifications:
Associates degree in Early Childhood Education; Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred
Previous Early Childhood classroom experience is preferred
Knowledge and interest of basic technological skills – word processing programs and website editing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which would be demonstrated through parent/teacher conferences, student progress reports, and team meetings
Ability to assume physical classroom duties (pushing strollers, lifting children onto changing tables, sitting on the floor to engage with children)
