Cambridge Friends School is seeking candidates for the Director of Equity and Inclusion for the 2017-2018 academic year. The position start date is August 1, 2017 and is a full-time 11-month position.

The purpose of this position is to collaborate, innovate, communicate, and provide leadership in our efforts to think critically about and respond thoughtfully to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as we grow and expand our diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-homophobia initiatives. This role will provide structure in the areas of strategic program development, implementation, and use of metrics to align with the Schools mission around diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and anti-homophobia training. As a member of the Administrative Team, this individual will work in conjunction and collaborate with members of the community. The Director will monitor and evaluate progress in creating an inclusive work and learning environment.
This person will guide all constituencies of the community including families, faculty, staff and students to make culturally competent decisions that best reflect the mission of the School. Ultimately, because of our Quaker roots and our Social Justice Mission, we want CFS to be the leader of New England for addressing issues surrounding diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racist and anti-homophobic thinking and implementation.
Create, direct, host, and promote diversity events, assemblies, forums, lectures, presentations, workshops for students, faculty, staff, administration, and the Family Association
Facilitate community committees for the annual Pride and Martin Luther King, Jr. assemblies
Facilitate internal professional development opportunities for faculty and staff as well as manage and organize external professional development and attendance of conferences including the annual People of Color Conference
Visit classrooms regularly to develop mission-oriented curriculum and support faculty, staff, and students around its implementation
Develop and facilitate the Anti-Bias Strategic Plan in partnership with the head of school, the board of trustees, and the faculty and staff
Serve as a consultant to faculty, staff, administrators, and board members on a wide variety of strategies, opportunities, and initiatives that will further our diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-homophobia and anti-racism work
Research and identify best practices, current and emerging issues and trends, and share that information broadly with faculty, staff, administrators, and community members
As a member of the Administrative Team, work with others to develop and model actions and outcomes in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-homophobia and anti-racism
Arrange and organize meetings with students of color, and with students from families identifying as LGBTQ families, supporting them through Affinity Groups
Assist with AISNE and other reviews by developing methods and showing and documenting progress over past ten years
Assist administration in attracting, recruiting, supporting, and retaining faculty and staff of color, and LGBTQ faculty
Plan and maintain budget for all diversity programs at CFS
Serve as the liaison for communication with diversity organizations, other schools, community outreach, etc.

Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
Progressive record of diversity, equity and inclusion leadership
3-5 years of leadership experience, preferably within an independent school setting
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
