GSFS seeks full and part time Teaching Associates to work with teachers in creating a safe, vibrant, challenging, and meaningful learning environment for students in Pre-K through sixth grade. Teaching Associates support all elements of classroom life and take the lead in many areas as they are ready. TAs at GSFS have opportunities to grow professionally and deepen their positive impact as educators. Our TA Program features weekly workshops for the TA cohort and regular reflection geared towards continual growth. We may be able to partner with some graduate school programs to provide student teaching experiences. We seek individuals who have completed their undergraduate degrees, who demonstrate:
- Strong interest and talent for working with young people in educational settings
- Enthusiasm for a team approach to curriculum development and instruction
- Desire to participate in the life of the school community outside of the classroom
- Enthusiasm for the mission of Greene Street Friends School
- Ambition to pursue a lead role in teaching or in education
Additional Salary Information: Part-time salary is $7,500. Full time salary is $15,000. There are additional opportunities for compensation through coaching, tutoring, and leading other activities in the school community.
Founded in 1855, Greene Street Friends School has operated continuously in central Germantown section of Philadelphia. The school’s curriculum emphasizes Quaker values, academic strength, and cultural competence. Greene Street graduates attend the top private and public magnet high schools, the largest percentage attending Central High School. Since the mid-1960’s the school has implemented a miss...ion-based business model that prioritizes financial accessibility, with an enrollment of 45% - 55% students of color. Over the past twenty years, the school has doubled both in enrollment and campus size. Current enrollment is 320 students on a campus of three acres. The annual budget is $5M, no debt.
