The Montessori School of Northampton is seeking a half-time Learning Specialist to serve the students and families in its program. The school is looking for a trained and experienced educator who joins parents and classroom teachers in their commitment to support the development of children with diverse learning styles and needs.
The Learning Specialist teams with the School Counselor, together comprising the school’s Learning Team. The team uses an array of approaches and tools to identify student needs and to generate and implement effective plans for student learning and well-being. The Learning Specialist works with teachers and parents in understanding the child’s needs, identifying community resources and making referrals if necessary, reading and translating testing results, and suggesting strategies for student success. The Learning Specialist supports the work of and coordinates with the Director of Admissions and the Head of School. Additional tasks may include leading in-house professional development, coordinating outside support services, and participating in key community events throughout the year.
The Learning Specialist position is currently structured as a part-time position.
