Provide individual and group counseling, consultation, and referral. Counseling will be provided on a short term basis and will include helping students develop coping strategies, resiliency and communication skills.
Make recommendations to the Director of Counseling regarding care for students.
Work with student groups and other offices to collaborate on outreach efforts.
Support teachers, students and families with crisis interventions and referrals.
Collaborate with the Dean of Students and Director of Counseling on Medical Leave plans and re-entry plans and assessments.
Maintain patient records in accordance with regulations and policies.
Assist in training of peer leaders, proctors, dorm parents, and advisors throughout the year and in preparation for the start of the school year.
Participate as a member of the school-wide Health and Wellness Committee.
Serve as a resource for parents, students, faculty and administrators for referrals and community resources.
Provide additional support to the Dean of Students with special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Teach one semester of Freshman Seminar focusing on issues of social and emotional. learning, healthy decision-making and stress reduction.
Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in individual and group counseling, particularly in a school setting.
Experience with outreach efforts/programming and networking with diverse student groups, academic and student service departments.
Ability to work with and be sensitive to diverse populations; particular interest in and/or experience working with independent school populations strongly preferred.
Ability to assess, evaluate and refer students to appropriate resources and referrals.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a counseling service.
Demonstrates expertise in all MS Office programs (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Docs.
