Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school. We are a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS). The school serves children from pre- kindergarten through grade five. Position General Description
Bertschi School seeks a music teacher who can inspire elementary children to appreciate, understand, perform, and create music. The ideal candidate will be willing to create a sequential and cohesive curriculum that covers the fundamentals, elements, and skills of music while promoting joyful engagement. The music program has a dedicated classroom space with musical instruments including drums, marimbas, stringed instruments, and hand bells.
Teach daily classes for students in pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
Support student performances in all school assemblies, drama productions, and other
Enhance and enrich current music curriculum to include varied vocal and instrumental
Incorporate a wide range of musical genres to reflect Bertschi’s commitment to diversity and a global community while keeping material relevant and engaging to 21st century learners.
Teach developmentally appropriate music theory.
Participate fully in the life of the school community.
Strong candidates will have the following qualifications:
Degree in education with an endorsement in music
A minimum of four years of experience teaching music in an elementary school
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, management, and goal-setting skills
Experience in curriculum development and collaborative production planning and
