The Blake School seeks 2-3 part-time assistant coaches for our debate program for the 2017-2018 school year. Blake has debaters in policy, public forum, world schools, congressional and Lincoln Douglas formats. Assistant coaches may work onsite and/or online. Local coaches typically attend practices one or two days a week. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes our community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately.
Coach debate students in person and/or online
Research and produce evidence, and guide students in doing the same
Collaborate with Director of Speech and Debate and other coaches on all team matters
Assist with team logistics as necessary; supervise students during local, regional, and national competitions
Passion for working with high school students
Ability to connect and communicate effectively with adolescents
Familiarity with policy and/or public forum debate
Experience providing students with constructive advice and criticism
Experience with research and evidence production
Familiarity with online coaching via technologies like Google groups and Skype
