Isidore Newman School, founded in 1903, is a nationally recognized, Pre-K through 12th grade, college preparatory, day school with over 1,000 students. Within the framework of building strong relationships and setting high expectations, the Director of Alumni Relations will be responsible for leading a growing and comprehensive alumni program for Newman's 6,000+ alumni across the country. This individual will work closely with the Director of Advancement, Associate Director of Advancement, Manager of Annual Giving, colleagues in the advancement and communications offices as well as the Alumni Association Board to implement all alumni fundraising events, activities and communications in order to build upon strong relationships with the School's alumni and foster a robust culture of engagement and philanthropy. This position is 12-month and salaried and reports to the Director of Advancement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Actively soliciting and securing Alumni gifts, both capital and annual. Working closely with the Director of Advancement and Associate Director of Annual Giving on identifying, cultivating, soliciting and successfully securing gifts from alumni donors.
Overseeing and continuing to grow robust alumni programs in collaboration with the Alumni Association Board of Directors both locally and nationally with the goal of increasing alumni engagement and giving. This includes all alumni events and Newman's N-Ternship program.
Working with the Director of Advancement, Associate Director of Advancement and Manager of Annual Giving to oversee the strategy and implementation of the Alumni Annual Fund.
Implementing and overseeing all aspects of Reunion Weekend including Reunion Giving
Leading social networking strategies and activities for alumni
In conjunction with the Communications team and Advancement Director, coordinating alumni content for Newman News, School's website and other alumni communication including class notes, and alumni feature stories.
The ideal candidate:
Provides positive and proactive leadership by actively securing alumni gifts, managing and recruiting volunteers, and demonstrating exceptional communication, problem solving, and relationship-building skills.
Applies standards consistently of the highest expectations for all of Newman's advancement efforts.
Actively participates in professional learning communities and professional development opportunities to gain and apply new knowledge for the benefit of the School's advancement efforts.
Demonstrates adaptability to respond to shifting priorities both to manage emerging situations and take advantage of new opportunities.
Evening and weekend work is expected through active participation in School events and to address communication/media opportunities as needed.
Prefer a minimum of three to five years of demonstrated fundraising success in a non-profit or independent school setting preferred;
Demonstrated excellence in developing strategies for identifying, cultivating, successfully soliciting and stewarding current and prospective donors;
Demonstrated success in recruiting and managing volunteers and planning events;
Experience and ability to work in a relational database, preferably Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, is essential;
Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skills;
Ability to travel and participate in school events after school hours, including nights and weekends;
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
