Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. The Fieldston Lower division, located on the Bronx campus, is comprised of approximately 275 students PreK through 5th grade and 55 faculty members.
The Admissions Administrative Assistant for our Ethical Culture lower school division in midtown has primary responsibility to provide support for the Director of Admissions at Ethical Culture. The administrative assistant works closely with the director in the implementation of admissions policies and procedures. In addition, the assistant will work with the Ethical Culture Admissions Coordinator to facilitate parent tours and parent interviews. The administrative assistant will is also required to work with Ethical Culture’s many school parent committees. Because the school’s main admissions office is located on the Fieldston campus in Riverdale, travel between the Bronx and Manhattan to both school locations as well as some late evenings will be required. This is a ten-month position.
The Assistant’s primary areas of responsibility include:
Managing a large volume of applications, including both paper and online versions for prospective applicants in grades PK-5
Managing day-to-day operation of the Ethical Culture admissions office
Coordinating interview schedules and playgroups
Entering, updating, and maintaining admissions data and files
Coordinating and maintaining the admissions calendar
Processing correspondence for the Director of Admission
Coordinating student visits for non-entry grade applicants with the Assistant Principals at Ethical Culture
Coordinating events for the entire admissions office, including Upper, Middle, Fieldston Lower. and EC
Coordinating and supporting the Ethical Culture office downtown with regard to parent meetings
Answering and responding to extremely heavy phone volume
Managing communication from nursery school directors
Creating ways to streamline the admission process for greater efficiency through technology
Representing the school positively to prospective families
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with Senior Systems data module
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience in handling heavy phone volume
