Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of Alumni Relations and Giving will provide substantial leadership in creatively nurturing and developing the Landon School alumni program. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of alumni relations and working closely with the Director and other Development Office team members, he or she will assist in managing the alumni relations program, developing and executing a coherent plan for engaging and cultivating a multi-generational alumni constituency, and generally building lifelong connections with the school among alums. Focus will be placed on event programming, alumni annual giving, and developing an engaging and creative on-line presence. He or she will work closely and effectively with alumni volunteers.
Work with the communications department to build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, phone, email blasts, alumni web pages, print publications, etc.
Develop, implement and manage the class agent system
Recruit student and alumni volunteers for various events, including phonathons and receptions
Work with the communications staff to coordinate and manage alumni web site, electronic communications and social media, including weekly newsletter to all alums
Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, projects (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, networking, website, postal returns, etc.
Programming and Events
Coordinate all alumni events, including: reunion, regional events; development and execution of an alumni outreach program for out–of-state alumni (travel is required to facilitate events)
Work with alumni in helping them to network and advance professionally, exploring online platforms to support this goal
Serve as support to the Alumni Board, the Grizzly Bear Board, and regional alum Boards (NY and SF); assist in structuring its responsibilities and goals and developing membership
Coordinate and streamline the senior class gift program
Oversee and balance the budget for Alumni Relations; within the annual program budget, manage existing and/or additional alumni programs, services and communications
Plan, implement and promote any alumni programs that support the Landon strategic plan, the promotion of Landon community, and the goals of the Landon Fund and any capital campaigns
Cultivate alumni prospects by increasing their involvement with the Landon School community
Work closely with the Development team on alumni related fundraising initiatives
Develop and implement strategies for identifying alumni annual gift prospects
Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing financial support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser's Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings
Ability to deal diplomatically and comfortably with a diverse community of alumni
Exceptional written and oral communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

Passion for accuracy and detail
Computer fluency (Raisers Edge, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, at a minimum) -- strong familiarity with web content management
Preference for experience in fundraising, sales/marketing, advertising, public relations, communications or a related field
Preference for experience in annual giving and alumni relations
Bachelor’s degree required
