Friends' Central School, an independent, coeducational, Quaker day school founded in 1845, and serving around 800 students in Nursery through grade 12, a part-time (19 Hour) Upper and Middle School ELL specialist. This part-time position begins in August 2017.
The English Language Learner Specialist will work closely with Friends’ Central teachers who are dedicated to creating and nurturing mutually-respectful and fully-engaged classroom communities. Academic departments meet regularly and work collaboratively. A learning community founded on Quaker values relies on the commitment of all its members for its success. As such, Friends' Central teachers are also actively involved in the life of the school outside their classrooms.
Work with 15-20 students (Upper and Middle School) who need support with English language in their coursework
Communicate with teachers and suggest strategies to help students succeed in the classroom
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in ELL or ESL. Master's degree preferred and 3 years experience. A successful candidate will be collaborative and passionate about helping international students.
Experience working with English Language Learners (Mandarin preferred)
Training in teaching methods
