The Mathematics Department at the Middle School level seeks a mathematics teacher who combines expertise in the subject with a passion for teaching students in the middle grades, who is both creative and collaborative in the planning of instruction, and who is committed to the principle that the deepest learning occurs when students are afforded opportunities to “inquire”, “discover”, and ‘test out their learning” for themselves. This is a one year leave replacement position.
Teach four math classes/per day five days/week (20 class periods)
Collaborate with teachers of the same course and within the same department
Collaborate with teachers on the same (grade-level) team and teachers within the same division
Knowledge and experience working with adolescent children
Knowledge and experience with mathematics at the middle school level (grades 5-8)
Flexible, collaborative, accommodating, and open-minded with respect to instruction and differentiating instruction
Communicate effectively with advisors, deans, counselors, division head, department head, and parents regarding student progress, as needed. (Note: This may mean communicating by email, phone, and/or in person)
Teaching and advising experience, preferably in an independent school with similar culture and values, is not required but is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in either Mathematics, Early Education, Early Childhood, etc
State certification K-6 or 7-12 (not necessary but preferred)
Sincere interest in being an active member of The Masters School community by advising, leading, serving and/or coaching
