Montessori Hale O Keiki, celebrating 26 years of serving the South Maui community, is seeking a Head of School to provide operational/educational leadership and strategic management for the School. The Head of School (HOS) should be a compassionate and dynamic leader whose educational philosophy is aligned with the Montessori approach and should have the strategic experience and vision to grow the school and maintain the school’s reputation as an exceptional Montessori educational program.
The HOS works with the Board of Trustees to enhance the strategic direction for the school and implement the steps necessary to achieve the School’s short and long-term goals. Specifically, the HOS will work collaboratively with the Board and Staff to address the school’s current strategic plan to expand the campus, successfully oversee the school’s fundraising efforts, including the Board’s efforts to establish a capital campaign, and add a new Toddler program to the curriculum. The HOS works to maintain the reputation and recognition of the School and maintain a visible presence in the community at large; ensure the quality and professionalism of programs delivered by the School; provide direction and leadership of the school’s staff, promoting the highest quality professionalism and teamwork; and attract new students to the School by supporting the school’s developing programs and admissions plan.
This is a full-time, salaried, executive position.
Montessori Hale O Keiki (MHOK) school is South Maui’s only independent school for children from preschool to 8th grade. We currently serve approximately 74 students. We also offer aftercare as well as holiday and summer camps.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities include:
Bachelor’s degree or more in applicable discipline with at least three years’ experience in Montessori education, non-profit leadership and/or school management.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, cooperate and effectively interact with parents, students, teachers and other staff, donors and referral sources to achieve results.
Motivation to learn about and fully support and promote Montessori education – its values and principles. Montessori training and certification preferred.
Effective management of personnel, including experience in successfully developing teams of professionals and appropriate delegation of authority and responsibility, recognizing and valuing professional expertise and experience.
Experience in Curriculum Development, Student Assessment and Teacher Supervision and Evaluation
Ability to use MAC and PC based tools for communication, project management and financial and other analysis.
Be available to attend meetings and events throughout the Maui area, including in the evening.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Direct and clear oral and written communication skills;
Desire and ability to represent the School in the community and among our constituencies.
Strong Marketing, Fundraising and Development experience
Previous experience with non-profit Board of Trustees
