Assist kindergarten teachers with instructional activities
Promote and support each child’s physical, social, emotional and academic growth
Escort children to and from class specialists when needed
Perform a variety of office assistance tasks such as photocopying and laminating
Help teachers maintain classroom library, toys, bulletin boards, and instructional materials
Step-in if needed and don full responsibility for the class if a substitute is not available or if a kindergarten teacher needs to step out
Assist with DCD’s Kindergarten class web page by routinely posting pictures and newsletters
Serve as a full member of the DCD community including lunch and recess duties, and when available participate in afternoon faculty meetings
Provide reading instruction to a small group of kindergarteners daily for forty-five minutes
Write a report in December for each student in your reading group
Love for and knowledge of five and six year olds
Ability to plan and implement phonics lessons that are engaging and fun while focusing on foundational skills
A willingness to be flexible and adaptable in all activities and responsibilities
Strong belief in a child-centered and developmentally appropriate philosophy where play is valued
K - 2 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
