Support students with different learning styles by implementing intervention, advising, and remediation strategies for students and teachers.
Works with students, teachers, faculty, and outside professional to create strategies that promote a greater chance of academic success.
Addresses poor habits relating to time management, lack of motivation, academic deficiencies and issues with goal setting.
Helps students develop learning preferences formore effective studying.
Support teachers in their efforts to advance students with different learning needs within the classroom.
Utilizes effective tutoring to help students correct their issues with learning.
Establishes positive relationships between students, teachers, parents, principals, counselors and others in order to ensure a collaborative effort.
Keep informed of the latest changes in the industry and research, evaluate and recommend new and updated research for the improvement of academic and administrative areas of the School.

Reports to Teaching and Learning Center Director
This position works as a member of the Teaching and Learning Center team to identify student needs, intervene and support those students as necessary, and develop teachers to assist in those efforts. The position also works in general to support the mission and strategic plan of the School. The Upper School Learning Specialist reports to the Teaching and Learning Center Director.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and a master’s degree is preferred, along with high school teaching or related experience.
Ability to communicate and work well with people in one-on-one and group situations.
Excellent interpersonal skills enabling the position to deal with delicate, emotional, and sensitive conversations with a variety of people.
A desire and ability to continue his/her education and certifications.
Demonstrable knowledge of learning differences, an understanding of ways to accommodate, and familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Can use experience, judgment, and creativity to plan and accomplish goals
