The Agnes Irwin School's Visual & Performing Arts Department seeks an experienced, dynamic, and creative part-time Dance Teacher, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Successful candidates will have a proven record of teaching dance to youth, engaging students in class, managing a classroom/studio in an effective and safe manner, and inspiring a love of dance.
Primary responsibility includes, but is not limited to: • Teaching dance classes to Middle School students from 3:00 – 3:30, late-November through May • Teaching a wide range of dance styles/techniques and composition/choreography skills to Upper School students from 3:45 – 5:15 throughout the school year • Oversight of the annual dance program performed in mid-March, and rehearsed evenings January through the performance
Successful applicants must possess: • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience • Proven instructional and performance experience with multiple styles of dance, and a strong ballet foundation • Experience teaching composition/choreography • Proven ability to oversee an annual dance program, from conception to performance • Demonstrated success in working with students in grades 5 through 12 • Working knowledge of technical elements of theater a plus • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
