The Logan School is seeking someone to help support teachers of students ages 4.5-8 for the 2017-18 school year.
About The Logan School: The Logan School for Creative Learning is an independent K-8 school for approximately 240 gifted students who are exceptionally inquisitive and hungry for knowledge. The Logan School fosters this love of learning by providing an experience-based education that allows students to develop individually to their fullest potential. With a focus on higher levels of critical thinking, students develop a mature sense of whom they are and how they will connect with the world around them -- skills that will serve them well into the future.
About the Position: Our young students often have ideas that are bigger than their small hands can create independently. This job will require helping individual students (with guidance from their core teachers) produce projects based on their individual units. The primary support teacher supports 5 different core teachers in mixed-age classrooms.
Status: The Primary Support Teacher is a salaried, exempt position. The position is 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-noon when school is in session.
Direct Supervisor: Primary Dean
Overall Responsibilities and Expectations: The overall responsibility of the Primary Support Teacher is to solve challenges through creativity and construction. This is done by taking the general plan of the teacher, talking with the student, and creating an action plan to support the child’s learning. You will work independently with students to do things such as: build a 3-D section of the French Alps to illustrate a section of the Tour de France, create a bridge out of toothpicks, or build a cardboard box cockpit with knobs and buttons. Additionally, you may be asked to read with a child to gather information about a topic, take dictation for a story and/or help lay out a poster to share about a topic.
Compensation: Salary is $10,000 for the full school year. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Application Procedures: To apply, send résumé, cover letter, statement of educational philosophy, and references to Markus Hunt, Head of School at email@example.com. NO CALLS PLEASE.
Equal Opportunity Employer The Logan School is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against otherwise qualified applicants on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender expression, national origin, disability or handicap, or veteran status
