The sense of neighborhood created on the campus from 3 to 6 p.m. is one that makes the Catlin Gabel After-School Program an excellent choice for many families. With teachers and teaching assistants to plan and supervise art projects, cooking capers, sports events, computer fun, and organized games, students have plenty to do. Because Catlin Gabel students come from all over the metro area, the program makes it possible for peers to participate in activities together just as they would as neighbors.
POSITION SUMMARY The After-School Program Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and leading activities for the After-School Program (2:50-6:00) for children in Preschool, Kindergarten and First grade in the Village classroom. Working hours are Monday-Friday, 2:00-6:00pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Design and implement program curriculum and activities, ensuring the activities are appropriate to the age, interest, and developmental level of children • Facilitate the upkeep of the Village classroom environment • Provide an inclusive, caring environment with respect to children’s individual differences • Maintain appropriate standards for children’s behavior using non-punitive methods that promote development of problem solving skills and support self-esteem • Provide careful and concentrated supervision of children to ensure safety and learning • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children and the program • Pursue professional learning opportunities, including 15 hours of professional development every year • Attend orientations, staff meetings, and training sessions if assigned • Attend All-Day programs and evening/weekend events, upon request • Maintain current Child Care Division Central Background Registry, Food Handler, CPR/First Aid certifications, and professional development hours in Oregon Registry Online (ORO)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • AA in education or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience • Experience designing and implementing activities for children (Preschool-First grade) in childcare and/or educational settings • Enrollment in Oregon Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen • Food Handlers certificate and current CPR and First Aid certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION • BA/BS or equivalent four year degree in education
