Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is a Catholic, Dominican, independent, college-preparatory day and boarding school whose mission is to educate young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth. We are currently seeking a Director of Annual Giving to join our Advancement Team. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, management and analysis of a comprehensive program to secure funding in annual operating support from all constituencies (current parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, grandparents, faculty and staff, friends, Board of Directors, foundations and corporations).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Annual Giving will provide day-to day-oversight and management of the school’s annual fund (Flintridge Fund) by leading the development of strategies that result in the achievement of dollar and participation goals by using multiple channels to solicit constituents.
Design and implement annual giving theme, message and collateral that is integrated among all constituents.
Conduct analysis on all constituent groups to determine targeted solicitations, segmented appeals and a pipeline of prospects.
Manage an effective program of personal solicitation utilizing top-level volunteers, including identifying, enlisting, training, and recognizing volunteers for the Flintridge Fund committee.
Plan and organize Flintridge Fund solicitation and stewardship events.
Work in collaboration with the Director of Alumnae Relations, the Alumnae Development Committee and the Alumnae Class representatives to solicit support from the alumnae.
Attend relevant FSHA meetings and donor/volunteer/student events to stay current on school activities and to build deeper relationships with the school community.
Annually devise goals and objectives based on analysis of fundraising statistics and activities.
Assist the Director of Advancement with determining an annual budget for both expected revenue and expenses as it relates to the Flintridge Fund; responsible for tracking Flintridge Fund expenses throughout the year and staying within the budget.
Manage the statistics of all appeals, and maintain regular statistical data that tracks the following items: total dollars given from year-to-year by constituent; number of donors compared year-to-year; average gift size, participation levels and donor retention.
Produce financial reports, analysis and other special reports for management.
In partnership and working collaboratively with the Director of Advancement:
Develop and implement a plan to cultivate and obtain annual and major gift support from foundations.
Schedule and develop strategies for visits on campus and off campus for foundation leaders/staff.
Conduct research to identify foundations likely to contribute to FSHA programs and projects based upon giving patterns, areas of interest, and relationship with School administrators, faculty, volunteers and trustees.
Prepare and submit proposals, including tracking progress of proposals through decision making cycle, developing strategies for follow up and intermediate moves between application and decision and determining reasons when proposals are rejected.
Integrate foundation donors into stewardship program as appropriate.
Establish and maintain a system for monitoring and reporting the pledged and awarded funds from foundations so that current status can be quickly determined.
Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with three to five (3-5) years of related experience
Proven experience in designing and managing annual fund programs
Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with volunteers including board members, parents and other donors.
Collaborative working style to coordinate development work with other staff in the school, including administrators and faculty
Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques
Strong interpersonal/human relations skills
Excellent verbal and professional written communication skills
Marketing and presentation skills
Project management skills
Ability to solicit gifts
