Ravenscroft School is seeking an energetic, long-term substitute physical education teacher, beginning November 2017 through mid-February 2018. This position is a result of maternity leave.

Our Physical Education teacher must have an in-depth understanding of teaching physical education to Lower School and MIddle School aged students and be committed to our educational approach to comprehensive student support in their growth and learning.
He or she must prioritize relationship building with colleagues, students, and their families. Collaboration will include being able to establish an effective working relationship with the Assistant Head of School for Student Affairs and the Chairs of Physical Education. He or she must be able to exercise good judgment, and comply with school standards as they relate to faculty conduct.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The duties will include teaching physical education in both Lower School and Middle School. Classes to be taught include PK/Kindergarten, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
The teacher will be expected to follow lesson plans that are provided, as well as create some of their own lessons in the assigned units.
The candidate will also be responsible for evaluating students and providing written comments at the end of grading periods.
Additional teaching duties will include (but not be limited to) daily locker room supervision and carpool duties two days a week.
Candidates will work under the supervision of the Lower School PE Department Chair, the Middle School PE Department Chair, and the Assistant Head of School for Student Affairs.
While not a requirement of this position, there may also be after school coaching positions available for both the winter and spring sports season, even if the sports season occurs after the teaching position ends.
Also, the teacher who accepts the job will be put on the substitute teacher list and opportunities to sub for full time faculty could occur before and after the dates of this teaching position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
An undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science and/or Health is required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with faculty team members is of paramount importance.
