The Development Associate works collaboratively with the other members of the Development Team and the Institutional Advancement Team providing logistical support for development operations and assistance as needed with all-hands-on deck institutional advancement functions. Reporting to both the Director of Alumnae Relations and the Director of the Annual Giving, s/he assumes responsibility for executing the necessary processes to ensure detailed arrangement for events and the professional follow-through so essential to a well-run development office and a coordinated Institutional Advancement team. The role is designed as an office manager role, but the assumption is that s/he would be cross-trained so as to be able to perform a number of institutional advancement functions.
Event planning and execution in collaboration with the Institutional Advancement Team
Along with members of the Institutional Advancement Team, conceptualize events to leverage the school’s mission and highlight key school messaging points.
Work within a designated budget to arrange details of events such as venue, invitations, catering and additional logistics as required given the nature of the event.
Volunteer management in the execution of events and projects
Support and train volunteers who are engaged in serving the school
Respond to and direct as needed inquires to the development office
Serve as a liaison from other operational areas to development
Organization and management of development office systems and processes
Provide logistical support to the Director of Alumnae Relations and Director of the Annual Giving
Staff liaison for Parent Association events
Key support person for all development team fundraising events, including Alumnae Weekend and alumnae relations functions
Demonstrated customer service orientation
Highly motivated and able to work independently, with little direct supervision
Strong organizational skills
Superb oral and written communication skills across generations and across constituencies
Technologically proficient with the curiosity to learn more, particularly in regard to the school’s development database, so as to help colleagues better utilize this tool
A social media user and fan, with awareness about its use in creating healthy relationships
A team player with a sense of humor, rolled up sleeves and can-do enthusiasm
College degree preferred
