Candidate must be detail-oriented with experience in preparing and processing daily Student Account deposits, assisting the Controller in the monthly close of the accounting books, and maintaining sound financial and internal controls. Ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel and Word, have accounts receivable experience in a private school setting, and have experience with accounting software. Candidate must be highly organized, reliable, and possess exceptional time management skills. Candidate will coordinate accounting activity with management and other staff members in order to provide current and accurate financial information.
Because the person in this position must interact regularly with students’ parents, excellent communication skills are required.
Process and verify student billing and financial aid grants
Process cash receipts for student billing
Verify and record third-party receivables for ten-month tuition payment plans
Prepare monthly delinquency report for Assistant head of School
Communicate with families with past-due balances
Verify and initiate refunds
Verify and initiate payment of tuition insurance
Maintain and reconcile enrollment deposits
Assist Controller with interim and year-end accounting close
Assist with preparation for annual external audit
Other duties as assigned by the Controller or Assistant Head of School
Skills and experience required:
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Three or more years of accounting experience, including accounts receivable in an automated accounting environment
Veracross experience preferred
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines is essential
Experience in an educational and/or not-for-profit organization preferred
Strong attention to detail is essential
