St. James’ Episcopal School is a premiere Preschool thru Sixth Grade Elementary School, 370 students, is centrally located in the heart of Koreatown.
We are looking for classroom teachers currently willing to enter the community as a substitute teacher. This job comes with an hourly wage of $18.00 with opportunity to advance into other full time positions. Successful candidates will begin as subs but should also meet the following criteria:
Minimum Requirements: • BA or BS degree and California Teaching Credential • Three years of full-time classroom teaching experience in an accredited public or private school • Maintain a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom. • Sound understanding of and affection for preschool and elementary-age children • Experience working with students and families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds • Experience planning curriculum and implementing differentiated teaching methods • Professional demeanor; courteous, outgoing disposition • Strong recommendations from previous teaching supervisors
Essential Functions/Duties: • The substitute teacher is expected to carry out the instructions of the regular teacher, including grading daily papers and leaving a summary of work covered. • Assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher promptly and in accordance with school rules. • Disruptive student behavior should be reported to and addressed by an academic administrator. • Follow the instructions left by the teacher or alert the administrator if there are no plans to follow. • Check to ensure that there are sufficient supplies in the classroom to carry out lesson plans. • Maintain normal classroom routines and discipline procedures. Spend the entire assignment working with and for the students. • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times during the day • Other duties as assigned by Head of School
This position is on-call Monday-Friday and begins September 2017.
