Princeton Day School, a premier coeducational day school serving about 970 students in Pre-K through Twelfth Grade, invites nominations and applications for the position of Head of Upper School.
Founded in 1965 through the merger of Miss Fine’s School and Princeton Country Day School, PDS today offers a rigorous and broad program designed for motivated and academically-talented students, who are encouraged to explore their interests, to stretch and challenge themselves, and to build enduring relationships with classmates and teachers. The School welcomes and celebrates diversity of cultures, views, and talents, and remains steadfastly committed to creating a nurturing and rigorous learning environment for all of its students.
The Upper School is PDS’ largest division, enrolling 422 students in Ninth through Twelfth Grades. The division’s 59 full-time faculty serve as the backbone of the Upper School’s academic program, an innovative, intellectually stimulating, and fully supportive course of study. In recent years, the Upper School has pursued a number of curricular and programmatic innovations in alignment with the School’s commitment to interdisciplinary study and globalized learning, including the rollout of a new STEAM curriculum at the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
Looking ahead, the division’s next leader will be expected to build upon the Upper School’s strong foundation and history of success, and should intend to make a meaningful commitment to the program’s future.
PDS has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist in the recruitment of its next Head of Upper School. Inquiries, nominations, and applications should be directed in confidence to the search firm at www.imsearch.com/6351. The new Head of Upper School will begin on July 1, 2018. The deadline for submitting applications is October 20, 2017.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of administrative leadership, including experience with faculty recruitment and development, curricular and strategic planning, community building with colleagues and partnering with parents, and a passion for delivering unparalleled educational opportunities to students and families. In its next Head of Upper School, PDS seeks an enthusiastic leader and spokesperson for the division, an educator who, in collaboration with the Head of School and other members of the School’s leadership team, will continue the work of stewarding and strengthening the division going forward.
