Poly Prep seeks applicants for a position as Upper School History Teacher with specialization in African-American Studies/History and U.S. History, effective December 15, 2017. The ideal candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; a passion for teaching and learning; enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues; flexibility and a sense of humor. Graduate degree and a minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.
Three classes/sections during Academic Year 2017-18 (African-American History senior elective; 11th grade U.S. History; 9th grade World History)
Willingness to meet with students on an individual basis as need be
Ability to keep accurate grades, effectively communicate with students and families, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress consistently throughout the school year
Assume role as an advisor for a group of students (approximately 10)
Advise a club or activity
Attendance at community events throughout the school year
Commitment to professional development
Attendance and engagement in meetings during and after the school day, including
but not limited to: departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
