Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 934 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking substitute teachers to work in Grades JK-5th during the school year. Substitute teachers in the Lower and Intermediate Schools assist either the lead teacher or the assistant teacher taking over responsibilities for the lead. Substitutes must be capable of teaching multiple grade levels and establishing effective working relationships with students of all ages, as well as faculty, staff, administration, and parents. Substitutes are assigned on an as needed basis.
Take direction from lead teacher and assist where needed
Escort students to their "specials" (Art/Shop, Drama, Music, PE, and Science)
Oversee recess and lunch with two other assistants from that grade

Bachelor's Degree and/or experience working with children required

Additional Salary Information: $60/half day (4 hours or less), $120/full day (4+ hours); this position is not eligible for benefits.
