The Nueva School – Innovative Teacher Program
Full-time Associate Teacher Position for Kindergarten The Nueva School, located in Hillsborough and San Mateo, was founded in 1967 to serve gifted students, now grades PreK-12. Nueva offers a constructivist program, project-based learning, and special area teachers in design thinking, reading, math, science, computer programming, the arts, music, physical education, and socialemotional learning. Associate Teachers work in partnership with Mentor Teachers to deliver a student-centered, project-based curriculum that inspires passion for lifelong learning, fosters social and emotional acuity, and develops the imaginative mind.
The Associate Teacher Program is designed to provide classroom teaching experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for new and developing teachers. Associate Teachers spend each day in the classroom, working with students, collaborating with teachers, building curriculum, teaching lessons, and reflecting upon practice. They participate in all aspects of school life, including parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and school events. Associate Teachers also attend regular workshops as part of a year-long curriculum to explore current topics in teaching and learning. Associate Teachers become members of the Nueva community of educators, one defined by collaboration, inquiry, and excellence. Associate Teachers generally serve for two years. During their second year, Associates develop a teaching portfolio, and receive support in applying for positions, building a resume, and preparing for interviews.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree is required. Experience working with young children and knowledge of the developmental stages of young children, as well as an interest in childhood education, is preferred. Position begins as soon as possible and runs through mid-June.
