Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 934 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a democratic society and global community.”
We are current seeking a 2nd Grade Assistant Teacher , who will work collaboratively with the 2nd Grade Head Teacher in all day to day aspects of classroom management: teaching, assisting students with special needs, grading papers, parent communications, organizing classroom activities, administrative duties, etc. Additional involvement such as curricular planning, attending parent conferences, consulting with other faculty, or contributing to student evaluation and documentation is not required but is possible if the Grade Head welcomes such involvement or deems it appropriate.
The Assistant Teacher works Monday through Friday beginning at 8:00am and ending at 3:15pm. Recess, lunch and dismissal duties as assigned.
In addition to hourly pay and eligibility for health insurance benefits, Assistant Teachers participate in a variety of professional development activities scheduled periodically throughout the school year.

Our ideal candidates are graduate students, pursuing a Masters in Education degree, or recently certified teachers wanting an additional year of experience before taking on the responsibilities of their own classroom.
