The Lower School Head has comprehensive responsibility for all activities involving students and faculty in their respective division. Specific responsibilities include the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet school needs.
Supervises faculty: Directly supervises Lower School instructional and support faculty. Observes and evaluates teacher performance. Provides faculty with continual performance feedback and training opportunities. Personally conducts performance appraisals of employees annually. To oversee and direct the activities of the department chairs, the sponsors of various student organizations and activities, and faculty committees. To establish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.
Directs curriculum development, biblical integration, and academic goal setting: Assures well-articulated curriculum with high academic standards. Provides diverse opportunities for student growth and development. Manages curriculum selection process. Directs vertical teaming efforts to assure that curriculum spirals upward, building on each grade level, from junior kindergarten through fourth grade. Strengthens Christian faith-based principles throughout curriculum, including weekly chapel, classroom bible programs, and service learning opportunities. Maintains congruency between the school’s board-approved mission statement and all activities of your division.
Builds School Culture: Promotes positive relationships with and among families. Maintains open door policy for parents. Provides family based extracurricular activities and parent educational programs. Continually communicates with families via newsletters, e blasts, and website. Chairs parent communications committee in order to assure two-way feedback between parents and staff. Manages student remediation and discipline as needed, assuring privacy and respect for those involved.
Markets Primary Division: Works closely with Marketing and Admissions teams to continually broaden the reach and strengthen the image of MPCS in the local community and beyond. To assist in the admission process for the testing, interviewing, and evaluating of applicants for enrollment. Develops community relations/outreach programs. Provides cross-divisional activities which allow internal students and families exposure to other divisions and programs of the school.
Manages budget: Oversees salary and operating budgets, assuring optimal stewardship of each. Continually evaluates use and assignment of salary and operational dollars to provide highest impact for students.

At least 5 year’s experience as a school administrator
Master’s degree in Education required
Signature is required on a Statement of Faith as a member of the covenant faculty/staff
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Strong work ethic and attention to detail; Classroom experience required
Organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, efficiently delegate, and complete multiple and complex projects on time and within budget
Genuine interest in children, families, and the process of educating young people in an evangelical Christian school
