Job Title: Major Gifts Officer Department: Development
Culver Academies is seeking a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) with proven skills in the identification, evaluation, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors ($100,000+). The MGO is responsible for developing and executing strategies that culminate in the receipt of gifts of $100,000 or more that match each donor’s affinity and capacity. Additionally, the MGO would solicit planned gifts when appropriate. The MGO would manage a portfolio of 150+ prospects, be held accountable for annual fundraising goals, and work as part of a team on the creation and implementation of overall fundraising strategies. The MGO would also be responsible for organizing and managing selected fundraising efforts and/or projects, to include supporting one or two alumni reunion classes. Management leadership opportunities are a strong possibility for the right candidate.
In addition to regular duties, the Major Gifts Officer is expected to participate in various clubs and activities, coach athletic teams, perform student supervisory and chaperone duties and engage in other such duties as may be assigned by the proper authorities.

• Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE preferred. • Minimum of five years of demonstrated success as a front-line fundraiser, including success in closing 6 & 7-figure gifts. • If no significant fundraising experience, a minimum of five years of demonstrated success as a front-line salesperson, including success in closing 6 & 7-figure sales. • Strong communication skills, including excellent writing ability. • Outstanding interpersonal skills; a high level of comfort with direct donor interaction and cold calls. • Confidence and integrity. • Initiative and independence combined with the ability to work well as part of a team. • Must be available for extensive travel. • Well-honed skills in developing long-term donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. • Excellent planning and organizational skills. • Strong computer skills with experience in fundraising databases, in particular The Raisers Edge. • Experience at an educational institution is strongly preferred.
