Heidrick and Struggles is conducting a confidential Chief Academic Officer search for a rapidly expanding independent operator of private schools, preschool-8, in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. The Chief Academic Officer will serve as a member of the executive team, responsible for curriculum and faculty across our Client's network of 23 schools and 6,500 students.
Our Client is looking to appoint a Chief Academic Officer who will be entrusted with the organization’s reputation for academic excellence, and will build on a culture that revolves around students, their families, and its educators. Modeling our Client's values every day, this position is responsible for leading and managing both academic and business results including the hiring of great academic talent, overseeing curriculum and instruction, assessing learners, and maintaining school viability and accreditation. This role will have the unique opportunity to define and launch our first high school in 2019.
The primary work of the Chief Academic Officer is to deliver exceptional curricula and teacher development programs, and empower each campus and individual to deliver their very best work. Balancing the expansion of campuses and programs, this individual will be directly involved in programs within California, across the US and possibly, international.
Leveraging technology, the latest research in learning and tapping their own creativity, this individual will:
Work closely with the executive leadership team to develop, align and implement the long and short-term academic and strategic plans that will fulfill our Client's mission and values.
Ensure curriculum is current, relevant, and of the highest quality possible. Deliver a curriculum that is scalable and consistent while allowing for individuality and a degree of flexibility.
Support, grow and develop the student-focused faculty and staff so that they can deliver the highest quality, engaging academic experience possible for students and their parents.
Qualified candidates will have demonstrated leadership experience in a leading private K-12 institution, ideally serving as Assistant Head, Head of School, Head of Academics and/or Faculty for a sizable student and faculty population.
