We are looking for a flexible, creative and responsible long-term substitute to take on the Head Teacher role in a 2nd/3rd-grade classroom. With the support of an Assistant Teacher, this Head Teacher will teach a small class of second and third graders. S/He will also get to collaborate and lesson plan with another seasoned 2nd/3rd Grade Head Teacher/Assistant Teacher duo. Our ideal candidate will progress children academically while embracing their unique learning styles and personalities. Head Teachers are responsible for leading and implementing the instructional program and working in collaboration with the community to create a child-centered educational experience for students.
Curriculum, Materials, and Classroom Management
Present consistent and individual group lessons to students and support each child's path to success--familiarity with Math In Focus and Reader's Workshop is a plus!
Differentiate lesson plans for a variety of learners (kinesthetic, gifted students, English Language Learners, and/or students with IEPs, etc.)
Establish and maintain a clean, positive classroom environment
Meet regularly with students to work with them on assessing their challenges and successes
Parent Education, Meetings, and Conferences
Prepare documents and reports necessary to facilitate parent-teacher conferences or other meetings requested by parents or school administration
Record-Keeping and Data Assessment
Assess students regularly and analyze student results, both individually and in a collaborative cycle of inquiry with colleagues and administrators.
Maintain grade books and meet reporting deadlines
Prepare student progress reports and assessment reports as required by administration
Uphold school's mission and values
Demonstrate genuine care for all students
Embrace existing school-wide management systems and promote high standards of behavior
Communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, parents, and students
